Report from HTD Executive Committee: Yogesh Jaluria
There is now an Opening in the Exec. Comm. since Ralph Nelson is leaving. Nominations are invited.
$75K is needed to Endow HT Memorial Award (3 categories, $25K each). We can complete funding to 50 K, but can’t make it to 75K. Therefore only 2 awards will be given until funding is completed. Award amount will go up to 1K (from $500).
Basic Engineering group is interested in improving IMECE. Members are encouraged to complete the survey that will be sent out for this purpose.
Bill Begell is working on international directory of heat transfer specialists. Should this be endorsed by ASME? Exec. Comm. welcomes input on this issue.
There will be a session organizer workshop at Orlando (IMECE), Tuesday afternoon. New session organizers are encouraged to attend.
NHTC Conference is going well with 274 papers submitted, web submission process has been effective.
There are 300 papers submitted to IMECE 2000.

Next NHTC co-located with AIAA in June in Anaheim. ASME is working on more co-locations in the future.
There was a discussion about the overlap between committee meeting and presentation sessions. This problem should be avoided by cooperative interaction of Program Chair and KCR during the scheduling process (KCR’s please note).

Discussion on International directory by Bill Begell -- fine with us as long as there is no charge. However, Steve Lee pointed out that a e-net strategy being put together by ASME would include listings of practitioners. Therefore there may be conflict in endorsing Bill Begell’s directory. Steve also pointed out that the directory has implications, and can be misused.
