Example of Monolithis hydrid Organic-Inorganic xerogels and aerogels.
The Hybrid Organic-Inorganic Materials Group focuses on the discovery, development and application of hybrid organic inorganic materials. Hybrid organic-inorganic materials that combine organic and inorganic phases in the form of molecular and nanocomposites with a synergistic improvement in properties. Research includes the design and synthesis of new monomers, development of new polymerization methodologies and processes, investigation of the polymerization chemistry and processing of existing sol-gel techniques, characterization of porous materials, and fabrication and testing of membranes for chemical separations.
