The Hybrid Organic-Inorganic Materials Group focuses on the
discovery, development and application of hybrid organic inorganic
materials. Hybrid organic-inorganic materials that combine
organic and inorganic phases in the form of molecular and
nanocomposites with a synergistic improvement in properties.
Research includes the design and synthesis of new monomers,
development of new polymerization methodologies and processes,
investigation of the polymerization chemistry and processing
of existing sol-gel techniques, characterization of porous
materials, and fabrication and testing of membranes for chemical
