The amounts of support are as follows:

Financial support for Students/Postdocs from US institutions

The National Science Foundation has offered funding to support a limited number of students and postdocs (approximately from 8 to 13) from the U.S.-based organizations who will attend the IMR. Priority will be given to higher quality submissions and underrepresented demographic groups as described below.

In keeping with NSF guidelines, all applicants will be required to use U.S. domestic carriers for air travel. A list will be organized to match attendees wishing to share a double hotel room (please email Andrey Chernikov if you are interested). The funding will be offered as reimbursement after the conference.

Applications are to be submitted electronically via email to Andrey Chernikov achernik@cs.odu.edu by August 17, 11:59 pm CET (GMT+2 hours), 2015, and will consist of the following documents:

  1. A statement from the applicant with the reasons for attending the IMR,
  2. A statement from the advisor or other organizational official confirming the status of the applicant and his/her potential to broaden the participation of underrepresented groups in STEM disciplines,
  3. Information about other sources of funding.
The applicants will be informed of the decision on August 19, 11:59 pm CET (GMT+2 hours), 2015.

The applicants meeting the eligibility requirement (active student/postdoc at a U.S. organization) will be classified into priority categories as follows:

  1. Authors presenting a full paper,
  2. Authors presenting a research note,
  3. Authors presenting a poster,
  4. General attendees of the IMR.

Lower priority (i.e., higher number) categories will be funded only if there are unused funds from the categories with higher priority. For categories 1 and 2, the applicants within the same category will be ranked according to the review score of their submission. For categories 3 and 4, priority will be given to underrepresented demographic groups.
