The SmartSampling program was created at Sandia National Laboratories to work with DOE cold-war legacy sites to more efficiently characterize and remediate contaminated soils. Unique aspects of the Smart Sampling approach to solving these problems are:
  • SmartSampling explicitly calculates the expected cost of decisions before they are made.

  • SmartSampling is an approach to solving problems and is not tied to a specific software or hardware platform. This makes SmartSampling a very flexible approach to environmental problem solving.

  • SmartSampling promotes and ensures dialog between the stakeholders, regulators and site owner throughout the remediation process.
More information on this program can be accessed at the SmartSampling Web Site.
