Granting or permitting exceptions or violations of policy, process, or procedure without authority, regardless of position or title, may be cause for disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. This procedure describes requirements for working safely with cryogenic fluids in either open or closed handling operations. Although this procedure addresses cryogenic safety issues in general, it primarily focuses on, and gives specific examples of, the inert cryogenic fluids of liquid nitrogen, liquid helium, or liquid argon. Liquid nitrogen is the most frequent cryogenic application at SNL.
