Applicability, Exceptions, and Consequences

This corporate procedure applies to all Members of the Workforce who consume food and beverages in locations at Sandia-controlled premises.

Granting or permitting exceptions or violations of policy, process, or procedure without authority, regardless of position or title, may be cause for disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. This procedure describes where not to consume food or beverages.

Procedure Requirements

Consume and Store Food or Beverages Members of the Workforce
  • Do not consume food or beverages in a toilet room or in any area exposed to a toxic material.
  • Contact the division ES&H team industrial hygienist regarding questions about whether a particular area is exposed to a toxic material.

Note: Very few areas at SNL/NM or SNL/CA have the potential for exposure to a toxic material. However, it is a prudent practice to avoid eating, drinking, gum chewing, or applying cosmetics in areas where chemicals are present.
