The IDC provides an incomparable visual experience. Whether immersing a team to the thirty foot wide main display, incorporating remote participants with the IDC's integrated videoconferencing systems, or using the interactive touchscreen systems for presentations, the users of the facility perceive images of clarity and size that are unavailable outside of the theater. Examples of use of the facility are listed below.
The IDC provides an environment where multi-disciplinary teams meet to actively evaluate and modify weapon designs in real-time. The large, high fidelity displays promote faster comprehension of complex systems and a high level of participation, resulting in improved designs, fewer design iterations, and reduced cycle time.
The IDC is the only Sandia/CA facility where ASC large-scale data sets can be displayed at the extreme high-resolution required for visual scientific discovery. Custom ASC applications enable the real-time display and manipulation of complex models.
