Professional Development Program

Sandia National Labs and Lockheed Martin strongly support the professional development of science teachers. Sandia National Labs has worked closely with local school districts to provide meaningful professional development opportunities to science teachers and to support professional development programs in the schools.

Program Description

From the results of our teacher focus group and two surveys completed by middle and high school teachers, the greatest need identified by teachers was assistance in developing meaningful laboratory experiments and classroom demonstrations. This professional development session is aimed at providing teachers with a variety of laboratory experiments and classroom demonstrations for them to use in their classrooms. We hope that by using peer teachers as the facilitators, this will be a great opportunity for local teachers to share ideas and obtain fresh, new ideas for explaining concepts in their classroom.
