Eizadora Yu, Ph.D.

I am interested in understanding the structural determinants of protein-nucleic acid interactions using alternative mass spectrometry based (MS3D) methods.  Spatial constraints provided by footprinting, crosslinking and mass spectrometric detection can be used to obtain structural models for these macromolecular complexes. My graduate research was focused on developing MS3D methods for RNA structure determination, and was applied to retroviral RNA structures involved in ribosomal frameshifting and genome dimerization. I am currently working on applying MS3D methods to investigate protein-nucleic acid complexes involved in mammalian base excision repair (BER). In addition, I am also part of a team building a collaboratory for MS3D (C-MS3D).
