Domestic Use

waterfree urinal
Domestic water consumption accounts for approximately 16% of the total at Sandia/New Mexico.

Domestic consumption is defined as water used for restrooms (toilets, urinals, faucets), janitor's closets (mop sinks), and drinking fountains. Sandia/New Mexico has been focusing on reducing high water pressure to buildings and reducing the amount of high-flow fixtures. All new buildings built at Sandia/New Mexico contain low-flow fixtures.

Water Free Urinal

Water Free Urinals or Waterless Urinals is a relatively new approach to reducing water consumption. Two water free urinals have been installed in a Sandia/New Mexico office building. It is expected that the annual savings in water will be 20,000 gallons.
