Sandia continues to be engaged in the significant demands of the nation’s nuclear weapons modernization program while conducting a whole range of activities in broader national security.
The Laboratories’ strategic framework drives strategic decisions about the totality of our work and has positioned our institution for greater stability in our broad national security role. This framework is composed of two main parts: the mission areas (MAs) and the Laboratories’ foundation. The MAs are supported by a robust foundation that enables Sandia’s success as a 21st century national security laboratory. The framework is fluid: As the nation’s security challenges change and evolve, so do the mission areas.
