KEY WORD: COLLABORATION
The theme is "Meeting Today's Challenges through Collaborative Science, Engineering, and Technology." This conference intends to create, cause, encourage and celebrate collaboration across and within the broad fields of science, engineering and technology.

Our hope is that every session, presentation, poster, breakout, group activity and one-on-one conversation will reflect or inspire collaboration in thought and action before, during, and after the conference.

If your work is already collaborative, please share the thinking, planning, and action across disciplines, departments, fields, boundaries, verticals, industries, levels of government, jurisdictions, you name it, that made it collaborative.

If your work is exciting and advancing a particular field, but not particularly collaborative, boldly ask where future collaborations could improve or extend the work, increase its applications, broaden its benefits? Share your views.

Or, let us hear about a new initiative you envision that would require a collaborative effort of multiple disciplines to deliver outcomes you would not achieve alone.

The opportunities for collaboration in this conference will be as important as the content. Our hope: you will walk away from this conference with the beginning of a collaborative initiative among a diverse group of like-minded professionals.

THE GOALS
In addition to enhancing regional, national and international cooperation in science and its applications, the AAAS/SWARM conference will

open communication among scientists, engineers and the public;
create collaboration between the science and technology workforce and infrastructure;
foster education in science and technology;
and increase public understanding and appreciation of science and technology.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
AAAS members, other scientists, engineers, technologists, teachers, and students are encouraged to attend and to submit proposals for symposia, workshops, oral papers, and/or posters. Students, especially from nearby colleges and universities, are encouraged to participate and they will gain valuable experiences to aid them in their academic and professional development.

We also welcome corporate executives, entrepreneurs, corporate universities, industry associations, trade groups, foundations, government agencies, and anyone who would promote the collaborative use of science, technology, and engineering to meet today’s domestic and global challenges.

The meeting is open to all areas of the sciences and you do not need to be a current member of AAAS to participate.

A COLLABORATIVE ENVIRONMENT
Join us in New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment, to share the latest in research from a variety of scientific disciplines and outstanding speakers in a friendly and relaxed format that encourages new collaborations between researchers in academia, business, and government.

Help us examine the role of science in meeting regional, domestic, and global challenges in Nanoscience; Computing; Energy, Water and the Environment; and Health.

The SWARM Annual Meeting is an avenue where education, research, collaboration, and networking intersect. The annual meetings of the AAAS have a long and illustrious history and provide a rare, but much needed, venue for various aspects of the entire scientific community to come together. The AAAS Division meetings are an opportunity to meet closer to home.

STUDENTS
Sandia and UNM will sponsor the student registration.
All K-12 students will be FREE and the FIRST 100 college students to register will be FREE.
