Sandia’s Corporate Ombuds practice in accordance with the International Ombudsman Association Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. They also follow Sandia Corporate Policy Requirement 001.2.2 which defines Ombuds services. The Ombuds can provide you with more information and answers to your questions about this policy when you call.
The Ombuds will:
- Listen to concerns
- Provide help to those seeking guidance
- Remain impartial and neutral toward all individuals in the situation
- Assist parties to develop options for mutually beneficial resolution
- Provide options for formal processes and official reporting and resolution paths
- Assist toward more effective and respectful communications
- Treat your information as confidential and take action only after you agree on its direction (Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed if in the Ombuds’ sole judgment there is an imminent threat of serious harm, possible breach of national security or possible commission of a crime.)
The Ombuds will not:
- Conduct formal investigations
- Serve as an office of formal notice of claims
- Make Sandia policy or formal management decisions
- Serve as a witness or testify in legal proceedings on behalf of either those who communicated with the Ombuds or Sandia
- Act as a representative or advocate or supply legal advice
