NNSA Laboratory Directed Research and Development Program 2009 SYMPOSIUM:
FOCUS ON CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE SECURITY

Please join us for our 2009 NNSA Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) Symposium in Washington, DC on August 19, 2009. This all day event will explore the current and future direction of LDRD investments that the NNSA National Laboratories (Sandia, Los Alamos, and Lawrence Livermore) and the Nevada Test Site are making to create science and technology solutions that will protect our nation's critical infrastructure from terrorism, sabotage, global climate change and natural disasters. Topics covered in the Symposium include cyber systems, power grid, energy resources, borders and seaports, bioterrorism, and transportation systems.

Our program will include a keynote presentation by Dr. William F. Brinkman (Director of the Office of Science), who will set the context for science and technology challenges in infrastructure security. There will be presentations and posters from scientists, engineers, and managers in the NNSA LDRD Program describing ongoing research in areas that impact critical infrastructure security issues. Finally, a panel of officials from industry, academia and government will discuss current and future technical R&D challenges facing our nation's critical infrastructure.

Please feel free to email this event information to any other potentially interested parties.
