CLEARANCE EXTENSION

Clearance Extension Request – Allows an individual to hold concurrent active DOE clearances under the cognizance of two or more employers, or one employer under two or more contracts.

Prior to completing paperwork, please ensure that the SNL Manager or delegate has created an active relationship for the individual requiring a security clearance in Enterprise Person.

Required Forms Authorization Submittal

PERSEC 5633.33 - NNSA Personnel Security Clearance Action Request

On this form select "Access Required" as the available clearance action.

 

A member of SNL management is required to complete the following:

  • Clearance Justification Narrative to justify the DOE clearance.
  • Supervisor Certification fields

 

  • Sandia Personnel Security requires a minimum of 5 working days to process a request.
  • Form must be submitted at the time the badge request is entered via the online Contractor Badge Request Application (see below).

Clearance paperwork becomes Official Use Only (OUO) information when completed. OUO information must be encrypted with Entrust when transmitted over a network (including e-mail). Fax completed clearance paperwork if you do not have Entrust.

Contractor Badge Request Application
Both cleared an uncleared badge requests for contractors and consultants must be initiated via the online Contractor Badge Request (CBR) application. This application is available to users with access to the Sandia Restricted network here. External business partners may access the application via the Sandia External Collaboration Network (ECN) here. For information on how to obtain an ECN account, refer to ECN Account Access. How will I know the badge is ready to be picked up?
In this case, since the individual already holds a clearance with another employer or facility a badge will not be issued. The Primary facility is the facility that issues the badge and since we would be “piggybacking” off of another facility SNL would not be considered the primary.  The individual will use their HSPD-12 Federal Credential issued from their primary facility at SNL. Upon notification from the Personnel Security Clearance Office that the clearance has been extended, the individual will need to visit the Personnel Security Badge Office to have their HSPD-12 Federal Credential encoded for physical access at SNL.

How will my contractor receive the clearance instructions and paperwork?
When the above forms are submitted, Personnel Security will distribute an e-mail to the clearance applicant with additional paperwork and instructions.
