Noh shock wave

noh shock wave

Comparing simulations to transprot models whose solutions are known allows verification as well as an analysis of mesh refinement. In this example with the Noh problem, a shock wave is illustrated (long dashes) by the higher density inside the 0.2-cm wave front and a low density outside. One can see that increasing the resolution by decreasing the grid spacing, Δx, demonstrates convergence of the numerical results to the exact solution.
