Accomplishments
Zapotec is a code developed at Sandia National Laboratories to couple complex structural and continuum dynamics phenomena. Events that can benefit from this type of simulation tool include material penetration, blast interactions with structures, and certain manufactureing processes. The sequesnce of six pictures shows the ability obtained through Zapotec calculations to simulate penetration of complex geologic targets required for predicting earth penetrator weapon performance at realistic target sites.
